Holiday time is officially over. Hello friendly faces!

Happy 2016 to you all! I hope you have had an amazing festive season and holiday, if you were lucky enough to have a break.

I really enjoyed my little break. It was a very subdued Christmas as it was the first Christmas without my dad, but I have no doubt next Christmas will be a little bit easier.

Ross and I couldn’t decide whether to pop down to Durban or not on our holiday, but we ultimately decided it would just be a bit easier to stay in Joburg. We came to a compromise, and decided to do a couple ‘day trips’ to explore and see things we hadn’t seen before (like the Pretoria zoo, for Ross!). The bonus was that we still got to spend time with our kittens family.

Here’s my holiday round-up!

I cut my hair shorter!
We explored Cullinan and the diamond mine!
We spent time with our dear friends.
I ate gingerbread. Lots and lots of gingerbread. I also chowed that gingerbread man in two bites.
A beefed-up kangaroo at the Pretoria Zoo.
We hit up Gold Reef City!
This is the face I pull on rollercoasters. Because I’m a pimp. Sorry for the blurry picture, but who pays 50 ronts for a printed photo here, c’maaaan!
We explored an Italian Prisoner of War cemetery in Zonderwater.
We ate DELICIOUS food. DELICIOUS. Almost 2kg worth of weight gain deliciousness.
We went hiking at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens.

All-in-all, it was great. I could do with another two weeks, to be honest, but I really have no excuse for being tired. I slept in pretty much every day. I had afternoon naps every day. It was amazing.

I have a feeling 2016 is going to be a big one with a lot of change, excitement and good times.

I don’t really make New Year’s resolutions because pressure. However, here are a couple of things I want to commit to doing this year:

  1. Focus on making myself happy. Every single day.
  2. Floss every single night (no excuses – I’m so lazy and bad with this. Starting flossing is as hard as it is to quit smoking.)
  3. Read every night – even if it’s just a page.
  4. Save money every month.
  5. Write more.

  1. Have you heard of the 52 week saving plan? May be a good start to the saving bit.

    And everything else you’re wanting to focus on is just routine. Start slowly and soon enough it’ll become the norm.
