I recently blogged about needing some help (due to my Libran indecisiveness) with regards to whether I should cut my hair or not.

Well, you voted, and if you follow me on social media at all (<shameless plug> twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Snapchat @AndyW4ndy </shameless plug>), you will have seen that I listened – I got the chop!

My hairdresser asked me the usual, “So, what are we doing today?” – and I hesitated for a second, because I knew there was no turning back.. “We’re cutting it all off.” I wish I could have taken a photo of her expression because she was really shocked. When I showed her the photos of the kind of messy bob look I was going for (thanks Pinterest), she got super excited. We had to cut my hair before colouring (obviously), and before I knew it, I heard a big ‘snip’ and saw my long locks falling to the floor.

Although I was nervous, I surprisingly didn’t feel any sadness at cutting my hair – I actually felt relieved!

I am so so soooo super happy with the results. I love it so much, that I may actually cut my hair a tad shorter when I see her again in five weeks for a trim.

This is what my hair looked like straight out of the salon. I should probably add that my hairdresser now wants to cut her hair in the same style as mine:

And this was my ‘next day hair’ (looooove):

One of my concerns was styling my hair. Having such long hair previously meant I would always just twist it into a messy top knot, so it didn’t take very long in the mornings – 5 minutes at the most. I’m really not a morning person, so the last thing I wanted was to spend hours more on my hair. I’m very happy to say that it actually took no effort at all.

I am super pleased (and relieved) to announce that this style takes just as long as it did before. I literally spent 5 minutes with a curling tong, just randomly curling bits of my hair. I sprayed in some texturizing spray, scrunched it up a bit and this was the result:

Exactly what I wanted it to look like!

I have made my own sea salt texturizing spray, and I’ve been getting great results with that too. I’ll share my recipe for that soon!

So, thanks for voting. I feel lighter, and brighter (side note: how amazing is the colouring?!) I feel like a new woman. ;)

  1. Wow, looks great. I also went for the chop shortly after your previous post inspired me to. I love my cut too but really need to get a curling wand and am holding out for your texturizing spray recipe because I think that is going to make all the difference.
