I recently started using a NutriBullet, and I have really been enjoying it. When I took a gap year off, and lived in London, I went on an almost daily basis to a Juice shop near the company I worked at – and my boss always ordered a specific drink: Beetroot, Carrot, Cucumber, Celery and Ginger. I got it for him all the time. I always thought it looked so strange, especially the time I dropped it in the elevator and had red juice all over me, and the elevator floor – just after starting at the company. Not awkward at all. It took me a while to work up the courage to try the combination, but boy oh boy, am I glad that I did. By the way, if you want to try something refreshing and delicious, you can recreate that veggie juice at Kauai. Here is the latest recipe that I’ve created, with that same juice as inspiration. I call it a Beetroot Bullet.

Beetroot Bullet

Ingredients

A handful of Swiss Chard

1 small beetroot

2 small carrots

A chunk of cucumber

A squeeze of fresh lemon juice

A teaspoon of Acai Berry powder

A cup of coconut water

Whizz all the ingredients together in your bullet for around 30 seconds, or until fully extracted. You could also make this in a normal juicer – but you miss out on a lot of the fibre and nutritional content that you lose in the waste products from the juicer.

Beetroot Bullet

Beetroot has some amazing properties. It lowers your blood pressure, fights inflammation, has anti-cancer properties due to it’s phytonutrients, and has plenty nutrients and fibre. The vitamin A from the carrots has anti-aging effects (leading to beautiful skin). This juice will also provide your body with plenty anti-oxidants. Plus it tastes like more. Acai Berry powder is considered a superfood, so it’s a good idea to try incorporate it into your daily diet. I find the easiest way to do this is through my veggie juices that I make.
